Residency Program

An immersive, hands on ministry experience.

Develop Your Calling.

We believe there is nothing more exciting than investing in the next generation of leaders through hands-on ministry experience in a healthy and thriving local church setting. A residency with Generations provides you with tangible, real-world ministry experience, surrounded by seasoned staff and mentors that genuinely want to see you succeed in a ministry career.

Maximize Your Experience.

We’re thrilled to announce a residency partnership with Christ Church of the Valley (CCV) in Phoenix, AZ.

This hybrid program is designed to provide meaningful hands-on ministry experience alongside intentional coaching to develop leaders for maximum impact in the church. Residents will gain knowledge through experience in specialized ministry areas as well as working alongside Generations and CCV staff and ministry coaches. This two-year program is designed to provide discernment to an individual’s calling to serve vocationally in the local church while simultaneously providing coaching to fulfill that calling for a lifetime.

Our partnership allows us to send you to Phoenix to spend seven months of your two-year residency at the fastest-growing church in the US where you will join a team of over 50 residents. While at Generations and CCV, we will walk you through three distinct phases–Learn, Lead, and then Launch.

This immersive, two-location residency gives you the opportunity to be trained and developed by two thriving, rapidly growing, Christ-centered churches. In both contexts, you’ll gain real ministry experience, carry real leadership responsibility, and receive real-time coaching from seasoned pastors who are passionate about your growth.

Two churches. Two locations. One unified residency. One life-changing calling.

WHY GENERATIONS?

Generations is a growing multi-generational, multi-site church in Northern Colorado. Our mission is to help one more person find and follow Jesus, and we’re all in on that goal. With over 1,800 people gathering in the seats each Sunday – between our Greeley, Windsor, and online campuses – we focus on giving people the opportunity to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way.

We know that as a young person further exploring your calling in ministry, you want your life to make an impact and to continue to discover the calling that God is giving you for full-time ministry. We are committed to helping you discover and discern more of what God is calling you to.

You will become an important part of our team, while also being adopted into our staff family.

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD

Part of being effective in ministry comes from creating a healthy balance between work and rest. Residents will often have Friday’s and Saturday’s off, and with that downtime, living in Colorado has its perks! Within 45 minutes – 1 hour of Generations include locations and activities such as:
• Denver (Sporting Events, Restaurants, Shopping Centers, Aquarium, Zoo)
• Estes Park (Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking, tourist town)
• Boulder (Hiking, Restaurants, Shopping)
• Fort Collins (Historic Downtown, Colorado State University)

Fueled by an active and outdoor lifestyle, Northern Colorado offers some of the best skiing, hiking, sports events, and concerts in the country. We also get about 300 days of sunshine a year, with amazing weather year round.

AREAS OF MINISTRY EXPERIENCE

Experiences are available in the following areas, and beyond:

Kids

Our Kids team works to deliver an experience that helps kids fall in love with Jesus at an early age. With 200-250 kids every Sunday, they play a vital role.

YOUTH

Generations Youth is a vibrant ministry aimed at reaching 6th-12th graders in the Northern Colorado area. We’re big on empowering the next generation, and the teen years are crucial.

WORSHIP

Music is one of the most powerful ways to connect to God, both spiritually and emotionally. Our team pours everything they have into creating an atmosphere of authentic and passionate worship, week in and week out.

PASTORAL & ADULTS

Generations is multigenerational church empowering people of all ages to find their purpose. We’re a big church that feels small thanks to a fierce commitment to one on one relationships. From small groups to discipleship to care to outreach to first impressions, there is opportunity to grow as a pastor and leader here.

CREATIVE

Our creative team focuses on creating experiences that people want to repeat, and opportunities for people to encounter Jesus face to face. Through storytelling, visual media, and environment design, we seek to communicate the message of Jesus’ love in captivating ways.

SPECIFICS ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This isn’t an online class for you to take just to snag an easy credit. You’ll work alongside our team and experience real ministry weight. You won’t sit on the sidelines, you’ll be thrown into opportunities to lead people to authentic relationships with Jesus.

A residency at Generations will last for 12-24 months, depending on the candidate who applies and their stage of life.  Our general preference is for residents is that the longer they are able to stay, the more we are able to help develop them.

Residents are typically defined as a recent college grads who is called to full-time vocational work in a Church setting.  If you don’t fully fit the profile, know we are willing to work with you as best as we can, so please complete the application process or email us with questions.

The average work week is around 30 hours, which typically includes being at Sunday services and in the office Monday – Thursday.  For big events or special projects, extra hours may be required, and staff is usually compensated with “off” days or special all staff events during those times.

We provide housing in private homes of key Generations families, as well as in Phoenix, while at CCV.

Each resident will be supervised by a staff member and coached two times per month in their area of ministry. Along with coaching, they will meet twice a month with other staff members to talk about how to live healthy spiritually.  Our desire is to focus not only on ministry skills, but spiritual wellness and development that will help guide you for a lifetime.

The work week at Generations Church generally runs from Sunday – Thursday, including Sunday morning services in Greeley and at our Windsor Campus on Sunday evenings.

Depending on your area of ministry, you’ll work alongside our staff team throughout the week to plan and carry out the mission and vision of Generations Church. You’ll be included in staff meetings, creative brainstorms, and other developmental gatherings, while also being given space to work creatively on your own ideas and goals within your ministry area.

In addition to ministry work, residents will also have opportunities for leadership growth and development. Weekly 75-minute Residency trainings will focus on a huge spectrum of leadership topics that will develop you post college graduation in the life of the church, and access to mentors will give you a safe space to process through questions and other topics related to life in ministry.

Complete the online application below.  A staff member will be in contact with you about setting up an interview.  We will then consider applicants and respond to you as soon as possible.  Our goal is to have final selections made three to six months before residency begins.
